Child's Loom Skull Hat

I made this hat on the adult size knitting loom (green). (16 rows for brim, 20 rows for the rest of the hat, two strands of worsted weight black acrylic yarn). The skull is from the skull fabric I used to make my knitting needle case (see post below). I just stitched it on with my sewing machine, with a close,wide zig-zag stitch.

Skull Knitting Needle Case

I made this knitting needle case with the instructions from Stitch 'N Bitch, and fabric that I found in the "novelty" cotton prints section of my local Joann Fabrics store (Madison Heights, MI). They had several different bolts to choose from, regularly priced from $6.99 - $7.99/yd. At the time I was there, they were 30% off. You need 3/4" of a yard of each kind of fabric (4 different kinds total). There was enough to double up the fabric when sewing it together (as suggested by SNB, if you choose to use other than heavy upholstery fabric). With the purchase of ribbon, it ended up costing me about $20 to make. Everytime I look at it I smile, so it was money well spent. Plus, my needles aren't scattered all over the place now.

Skull and Crossbones Hat

I made a skull and crossbones hat for my friend, Dug. I'd made one for his son's first birthday and it drew raves at daycare, so Dug wanted one for himself.
I don't remember how I knitted it up. I did 2 x 2 rib for an inch or so, and then just straight stockinette for 8 inches before I decreased down. The skull chart is from magknits http://www.magknits.com/Apr06/patterns/zombie.htm
It's nice to have friends with small children who aren't scared off by skully things and other cool stuff.

Bat Purse

This purse was made with the "retro stripes" handbag pattern from http://www.interweave.com/knit/projects_articles.asp and Patons Merino Wool. You could probably get two purses out of one skein. It took two washings to felt.

Skull Wristband

This was my first intarsia project. I took a bunch of wristband patterns and figured out the easiest way to do this for me. I used the skull and crossbones chart that has been floating around the web. The yarn is worsted weight and I think I cast on 30 stitches.

This chart is 40 stitches wide by 32 rows long. I embroidered the smile on, in my FO, because it was the easiest way and it looks the best (see below)

Here is Michael with his cool new sweater. He's wearing it to school today :D
